“You’re not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on.”
We all need time away from our work or business and our day to day lives. All work and no play really does take it’s toll on you, especially wen you are constantly working hard to get the things you want.
We all need to recharge our batteries now and again don’t we? Well this is exactly what I was doing last week. In other words, I have been having a little fun!
If parties are your thing, then there is no better celebration that St Patrick’s day. It’s celebrated world wide by all kinds of people, not just the Irish.
St Patrick’s day plays host to some huge street parades in lot’s of major cities throughout the world such as:
And many more….
The street parades are unusually followed by music entertainment of all genres and of course in typical Irish tradition a good old drink in the pub with Irish music and good ‘craic’ (pronounced ‘crack’ the Irish term for friendly conversation).
The evenings are full of lively people all having fun and celebrating in true Irish style. Lot’s of dancing, drinking, laughing and generally having a great time enjoying each others company.
One 45 minute flight later and….
I was in Belfast with my wife Emma, and my two friends Peter and Sonia, and we were ready for a party! We arrived a day early to settle in, have a few beers and something to eat and get ready for the celebrations the next day.
We set out on Saturday with a game plan that went something like this:
11:00 Walk through the City talking in the atmosphere
12:45 Watch my football team play in quarter final of the FA cup
14:30 See the last of the parade and entertainment (Missed It!!)
15:30 Join the rest of the folks in the bar for the ‘craic’ and party all night!
Our day did go more or less to plan apart from the parade which we missed due to the football match, but never mind.
Once the football was finished we moved into a few more bars and followed the party atmosphere well into the night. Lot’s of laughing, singing and dancing (badly). We met lot’s of new friends on the way and have been invited back again next year for more of the same.
Take a look below I have added some pictures from the weekend, although mostly of beer we had a truly amazing time. One which I will do again!
It’s times like these that we all need in our lives to make us feel alive. There is nothing better than forgetting about the norm and doing something a little different and enjoying ourselves.
It took me a couple of days to recover from the whole weekend experience, but now that it’s over I look back and think about the great time that I had with great friends.
For me, days and nights like these really are unforgettable times. It’s great to just cut loose from time to time and simply have a great time. So if you are working too hard at the moment. Take a break and go do something fun You can always take up from where you left off feeling recharged and better for it.
What do you do to relax and forget about the daily grind?
Did you celebrate St Patrick’s day?
Are there any special occasions that you are looking forward to?
